Fantasy football games are fantasy sports in which the participants, who are called owners, arrange into a league, a draft or acquire a real life team by way of auction. These participants then score points on the basis of the players selected by them in the teams. A conventional fantasy league employs players from a single football league only. League can be arranged in a way, wherein the winner is the team which has scored the maximum number of points at the end of the season.
History of Fantasy Football:
The game originated in 1962 by an idea of Mr. Bill Winkenbach, with the assistance of Bill Tunnel. Others who contributed in the foundation of the fantasy football games were Scotty Stirling, George Ross and Philip Carmona. Winkenbach and the others thought about the idea of fantasy football during a three week road trip to the East Coast. On returning from their trip, they established the first fantasy football league by the name of Greater Oakland Professional Pigskin Prognosticators League. The two main types of competition formats for the league are head to head, in which weekly games are played against specified opponents and total points, in which the tally of the points at the end of the season determines the winner.
Strategies Used by the Players:
Lots of players of the fantasy football games are very passionate about their hobby of playing the game. They are always on the lookout for different ways to counter to competition. One of the areas of the strategic planning is handcuffing. Handcuffing is the enlisting of two players from the same team in the same position to protect the top player. The players playing the fantasy football game also refer to magazines, websites, books and software that provide them with strategies to improve their playing skills.
